2 Out Of 3 Falls Match for the WWE United States Championship: M.V.P. Vs. Chris Benoit
WWE Judgment Day - May 20th, 2007SmackDown’s highest-paid athlete, M.V.P., had yet to show himself as being a formidable superstar, barely gaining any big wins over top WWE Superstars. At least until he dethroned United States Champion, Chris Benoit. Benoit had been U.S. Champ since October 2006, defeating several challengers during his 7 month reign. Once M.V.P. gained the U.S. Championship, he would hold it for nearly a year. Quite an impressive feat for a rookie.
This is one of the most exciting matches in M.V.P.’s short WWE career. It’s difficult, of course, to have a bad match against Chris Benoit, but M.V.P. and Benoit had a great dynamic, wrestling each other with both speed and technical prowess, testing their opponent’s athletic abilities in the ring. The respect Benoit had for M.V.P. shines in this match.
